Best Birthday Gift Ever: Learning to Love Myself

Hi Peeps,

Age shouldn’t just represent the number of years you have lived as a human being; rather it should represent how many years have you lived as YOU. Growing up, we must learn to love and accept who we are. Do not let the social norms define you.

All of this is super easy to say but it’s not that difficult to achieve either. This birthday, I decided to live for who I am and embrace myself my individuality and being a person who has always struggled with image issues; I decided to break through it, to gather the courage to face myself my fears. I went and got myself a photoshoot package this birthday. I faced the camera. I faced my fear.

In the beginning, I was scared to death, I felt like I would break down and cry. After every picture, the photographer clicked, all I wanted to do was to take a look at the image and like always say it’s not nice and ask him to delete it. Before, that day every image that was ever taken of me was bad or had something wrong. I always had some reason to demean myself; to tell myself that I was not good enough; that I was fat; that I did not have the confidence; or something.

But on my birthday this year, I faced it and I want you guys to face the truth too. The truth is:

         You are Beautiful and Special

It’s never easy to come this far. It wasn’t for me either. It has taken me years to come to this acceptance. And so I want you guys to know that I am always there for anyone who needs a friend to tell them that they are special or who need someone to talk to.

We must start with baby steps. Trust me, if you can take just one step you can walk a mile. We just have to take the time to gather courage and place our first step forward

Today,  I don’t want to say much……I want you all to do me a favor and just go stand in front of a mirror; look at yourself and say 5 things you like about yourself. Feel good about yourself. Before you leave just say: “I love you Ms/Mr. name”; and leave with a  big smile.

Start your day with this routine. It has helped me. Try it; there is no harm in trying. And remember you always have a friend. All you need to do is take the time to message. Just click on the contact us and leave me a message and we will figure something out together; because after all, I am learning too.

And  remember:

                    You are beautiful
